Neutral Core HMO

Lacto-N-tetraose (LNT)

Lacto-N-tetraose helps nutrition companies expand neutral core HMO coverage in a product range. It is useful when brands want to compare neutral HMO structures, build multi-HMO portfolios, or support child-nutrition product development.

Nutrition companies usually review LNT purity, residue indicators, application fit, and document needs together with the commercial supply path.

  • Neutral core HMO portfolio fit for advanced blends
  • Water-phase purification for high purity and cleaner flavor
  • Application review backed by batch-level quality control

Application and Regulatory Review

LNT Application, Use-Level, and Regulatory Review

Review LNT application direction, use-level references, permitted categories, labelling points, and destination-market requirements before sampling, quotation, or commercial formulation.

Neutral Core Portfolio Depth

LNT is useful when a nutrition company wants neutral-core coverage beyond LNnT. It helps the brand explain that the HMO system is broader than one fucosylated product and one neutral product.

Young-Child and Complementary Food Concepts

LNT fits young-child nutrition, milk-based drinks, cereal concepts, purees, and advanced child-nutrition product ideas where the local market allows use.

Synbiotic R&D Direction

Related LNT-series material supports synbiotic discussion with selected probiotic strains. We use this for R&D matching, not as a finished claim.

Blend Planning with All HMO Families

LNT can sit with 2'-FL, 3-FL, LNnT, 3'-SL, and 6'-SL when nutrition companies want fucosylated, neutral core, and sialylated coverage in one concept.

EU Novel Food Review

EU 2020/484 authorises LNT as a novel food, and EU 2026/397 gives a newer source-specific LNT authorisation. These entries show why source, production strain, food category, and data-protection status must be checked before launch.

Use-Level Review Notes

  • FDA GRN 1258 lists LNT for non-exempt infant formula for term infants at 0.8 g/L.
  • FDA GRN 1258 also lists other food categories at levels up to 20 g/L. Treat those as category-specific GRAS references, not as one universal use level.
  • EU LNT entries vary by authorised source. Public entries show infant formula levels from 0.8 g/L to 1.82 g/L in final product ready for use.
  • EU follow-on formula entries show 0.6 g/L to 1.82 g/L in final product ready for use, depending on the authorised source.
  • EU food supplement entries include 2.0 g/day and 4.6 g/day depending on the entry and population restrictions.
  • Before quoting for an EU nutrition company, confirm source, manufacturing route, intended population, and whether any data-protection condition affects the project.
